Spa Days
If you deserve some extra rest & relaxation then why not head off for a spa day. We have lots of great spas all within a short drive; Billesley Manor, The Wildmoor, The Ardencote, The Warwickshire, The Welcombe, Alveston Manor, Mallory Court and Stratford Manor.
Adventure Sports & Fitness
You can try paddle boarding, hire boards or do paddle board yoga at SUP Stratford. A wakeboarding facility called Spot on Wake is only 8 miles away, you can hire all the kit and they offer lessons for all abilities. They accept children from 8 years up. They also have an aquapark you can hire as a private family activity. Warwick Adventure Sports is a 100 acre facility offering a range of activities including a archery, segways, hovercraft, paintball, rally karting, clay pigeon shooting and more for groups and individuals. If open water swimming is more your thing then try the beautiful surroundings at Compton Verney where they also offering coaching.
If you’re feeling sporty then you can find pay & play tennis courts in Stratford upon Avon. Warwick tennis courts shares the park with adventure golf, giant chess, boules, basketball station, roundabouts and a train for young children as well as an open air paddling pool, enlarged skate & BMX track and rowing boats you can hire to row in sight of Warwick Castle.
If you are a gym bunny and a member at Bannatyne Gym or David Lloyds then you’re in luck as they are only a short drive from the cottage. Alternatively there are pay as you go gyms in Stratford too.
Cycling
Stratford-upon-Avon and the surroundings are relatively flat and cycling is a pleasant way to get around. Stratford Bike Hire is a cycle hire delivery service for Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding area of Warwickshire and the Cotswolds. They deliver your rental cycles to your cottage or cycle starting location then collect them at the end of the rental period. www.stratfordbikehire.com. If you are bringing your own two wheels and need somewhere to store your bike during your stay then just let us know.
Golf and… Disc Golf
There are a number of golf courses within a short distance, the closest being Stratford Park Golf Course. Stratford Oaks Golf Club is also a very friendly, local course in Snitterfield. A couple of miles away is the Menzies Welcombe course which is a favourite for our guests. Towards Warwick you also have The Warwickshire Golf Club. We also have Gilly’s Disc Golf very close to us in a beautiful wooded area, sure to be fun for all the family.
Fishing
There are also some super places we can recommend to go fishing locally if you are a member of the British Angling Association, there are lots of places to fish around the local area for coarse fish, trout and salmon on any of the Association’s many miles of rivers, canals and pools. Or why not try Morton Springs. Arden Fisheries is located within walking distance, however, it is private please do not walk around here – you will need a membership.
Horse Riding and Horse Racing
Closest to us is Claydons Stud Farm who offer group and private horse riding lessons, from beginner to advance. Polo, Jousting, Horse Archery and Horse Riding can all be found just outside of Warwick too. Just over 10 minutes away, you can go also pony trekking on 360 acres of private land on a beautiful estate. It is suitable for all ages and abilities. If you’d rather have a flutter on the horses try Cheltenham, Stratford or Warwick racecourses.
Walking…. with or without animals
For something different why not try Alpaca Walking or even Pygmy Goat Walking! Middle England Farm is only a short drive from us and you will be sure of a warm welcome. Or Faerie-Tale Alpacas is a family run farm located on a picturesque 15 acres in Kenilworth Warwickshire. The region is simply a haven for nature lovers and those enjoying the great outdoors. The Monarch’s Way runs across the driveway, giving walkers access to some superb countryside. There are folders containing local walks in each of the cottages.
Motorsport
All within a hours drive are; Silverstone, Mallory Park and Donington Park circuits. Handy if you are off to the F1, a circuit racing enthusiast, heading off to a car or bike; track day, test day, race or all three! Stoneleigh Park always has good events on and we are close to the NEC, Bicester Heritage Centre. If you like things with motors go to Caffeine and Machine outdoor tepee coffee house, restaurant, art gallery and general hangout – C&M exists as a meeting place for anyone who has a fondness for machines – it’s very popular so check before you go as you may need a ticket. There is also The Piston Club which is a few miles away and although geared at motorsports enthusiasts it’s a popular one with all; we especially like the Sunday dinners there. If you fancy tackling off road two wheels then contact Ady Smith, he has various venues around the UK and offers expert tuition on the latest KTM enduro bikes.
Narrow Boat
Try a day on the River Avon on your own canal boat. You can arrange to pick one up at Wootton Wawen which is only a gentle six hour – 7.5 mile cruise from Stratford-upon-Avon. All boats are equipped with everything you need for a leisurely day afloat, including a fridge and a toilet.
