There are a number of golf courses within a short distance, the closest being Ignon Manor Golf Course. Stratford Oaks Golf Club is also local in Snitterfield. A couple of miles away is the Menzies Welcombe course which is a favourite for our guests. Towards Warwick you also have The Warwickshire Golf Club.
A very smart new wakeboarding facility has recently opened, you can hire all the kit and they offer lessons for all abilities. It’s only 8 miles away so a fun day out for any of our guests who want to learn or brush up on their skills. They accept children from 8 years up.
Based at a 100 acre outdoor activity centre in Warwick Adventure Sports offer a range of activities including a archery, segways, hovercraft, paintball, rally karting, clay pigeon shooting and more for groups and individuals.
Horse Riding and Horse Racing
Just over 10 minutes away, you can go pony trekking on 360 acres of private land on a beautiful estate. It is suitable for all ages and abilities. They have a specialism in working people with learning difficulties and young people with autism.
There are some super places we can recommend to go fishing locally; why not try River Meadow. Morton Springs or Bishops Bowl Fishery, a top venue in Warwickshire for the match, club, pleasure and specimen angler. If you are a member of the British Angling Association, there are lots of places to fish around the local area for coarse fish, trout and salmon on any of the Association’s many miles of rivers, canals and pools.
If you’re feeling sporty then you can find pay & play tennis courts in Stratford upon Avon. Warwick tennis courts shares the park with adventure golf, giant chess, boules, basketball station, roundabouts and a train for young children as well as an open air paddling pool, enlarged skate & BMX track and rowing boats you can hire to row in sight of Warwick Castle.
Warwick District Council’s Victoria Park Bowling Complex is the official home of Women’s Bowls in England. There are lots of events here or you can just hire the facilities. There is no booking system for general public to use the bowling greens you can just turn up and play on a first come first served basis (subject to rink availability).
Summer months make an ideal time to be up in the air. Snitterfield has its own gliding club which offers trial flights. All you have to do is turn up, alternatively, you can call the airfield on 01789-731095 at about 9.00am for information on the day that you’re thinking about going and they will do their best to arrange an approximate time for you to go and fly.
The region is simply a haven for nature lovers and those enjoying the great outdoors. The Monarch’s Way runs across the driveway, giving walkers and mountain bikes access to some superb countryside. The route is a 615-mile long-distance footpath in England that approximates the escape route taken by King Charles II in 1651 after being defeated in the Battle of Worcester. We can provide maps on request. There are folders containing local walks in each of the cottages and also in the information point on the cl site.
Cycling and Motorcyclists
We pride ourselves on being bike friendly and have enjoyed having guests stay with us as they tour Europe. Stratford-upon-Avon and the surroundings are relatively flat and cycling is a pleasant way to get around. Stratford Bike Hire is a cycle hire delivery service for Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding area of Warwickshire and the Cotswolds.
